Privacy Policy
How renaultsparessa.co.za collects, uses and stores the information you send with a parts enquiry.
This policy explains what happens to your information when you use this site or send us a parts enquiry. It is written to meet the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA), and it describes what this site actually does rather than what a template says.
The short version: we collect what we need to price a part for you, we pass it to the parts desk that answers you, and we do not sell it to marketers. The long version is below, including the bit most policies leave out — exactly who else receives it.
1. Who is responsible for your information
Renault Spares SA operates this website and is the responsible party for the personal information described here. The parts counter behind it is SparesBoyz, at the address below.

Any request about your personal information — a copy of it, a correction, or its deletion — can be sent to that email address and will be dealt with by the person responsible for these requests.
2. What we collect
What you type in
When you send an enquiry through a form on this site, we collect:
- your name;
- your phone number and email address;
- your town or suburb, if you give it — it is optional, and it is what carriage gets costed against;
- your vehicle's model and year, and whether you want a new, used or either-way part;
- a description of the part, which side of the car it is on, and anything else you write in the message box — people often include a VIN, an engine code or a registration number here, so treat that box as part of the record;
- the page of this site you were on when you sent it.
What is recorded automatically
When you submit an enquiry, and when you tap the phone, WhatsApp or quote buttons, we also record:
- your IP address;
- your browser's user-agent string, and whether the device is a phone, tablet or desktop;
- which button you tapped, the page address and title it was on, and the page that referred you here.
We do not run those beacons on anything other than those three buttons, and the endpoint rejects any other kind of event.
Cookies and similar storage
This site sets two first-party cookies, _fbc and _fbp, which last 90 days. They exist to measure whether an advert on Facebook led to an enquiry, and the _fbc value is derived from the click identifier Facebook adds to the link you arrived on. Their values may be used for advertising measurement, which can involve sharing event data with Meta.
Your browser also holds, for the length of your visit only, the first page you landed on, the site that referred you and any campaign tags in the link. These are cleared when you close the tab.
You can block or delete all of these in your browser's settings. Nothing on this site stops working if you do — the forms, the phone links and the WhatsApp links all behave exactly the same.
3. Why we collect it
- To answer your enquiry. We cannot price a part without knowing the part, the car and how to reach you. This is processing you asked us to do by sending the enquiry.
- To keep a record of the enquiry so it can be picked up if you phone about it later, and so we can tell whether a lead went missing.
- To keep the site working and to spot abuse. The IP address and user-agent are what let us tell a person from a bot filling in forms.
- To measure advertising and how the site is used, so we know which pages are worth keeping.
We do not use your information to make automated decisions about you, and we do not build a profile of you for anyone else.
4. Who else receives it
This is the important part, and it is the reason this policy is not a copy of somebody else's. Your enquiry does not stay on this website. When you submit one it goes to:
- The SparesBoyz parts desk, by email, so a person can price your part. That email is set up so that replying to it replies to you.
- Engine Finder (enginefinder.co.za), which passes the enquiry into the supplier's customer system so it can be worked and not lost.
- The supplier's Odoo customer system, which is where the enquiry is actually handled from.
We also rely on ordinary service providers to run the site: a hosting provider that holds the database, and an email provider (Resend) that delivers the notification to the desk and the confirmation to you. They process the information on our instructions in order to provide those services.
Beyond that, we will only hand over personal information if the law requires it or to protect our legal rights. We do not sell your information, and we do not pass it to third-party marketers or lead brokers.
5. Information sent outside South Africa
Our email provider processes messages on servers outside South Africa, so the contents of the notification and confirmation emails — which include your name, contact details and what you wrote about the part — leave the country in the ordinary course of being delivered. Section 72 of POPIA allows this where the recipient is bound to protect the information to a comparable standard, which is the basis on which we use them.
6. How long we keep it
We keep enquiries for as long as we need them for the purpose they were collected for — answering you, honouring a quote, and dealing with anything that comes up afterwards — and for as long as any law requires us to keep business records. We do not keep them longer than that just in case.
We have not set a single fixed period for every record, and we would rather say so than publish a number we do not actually apply. If you want your enquiry deleted, ask us and we will do it, unless we are required to keep it.
7. Keeping it safe
Enquiries are stored in a password-protected database that is not reachable from the public internet, the site is served over an encrypted connection, and access to the enquiry records is limited to the people who need it to answer you.
We are not going to pretend that is a guarantee. No website can promise that, and a policy that does is telling you something it cannot know. What we can say is that if a breach affects your information, POPIA requires us to notify both the Information Regulator and you, and we will.
8. Your rights under POPIA
You may, at any time and free of charge for the request itself:
- Ask what we hold about you and be given a copy of it.
- Have it corrected if it is wrong, or completed if it is missing something.
- Have it deleted where we no longer have a reason to keep it.
- Object to us processing it, on grounds relating to your situation.
- Withdraw your consent where we relied on it, which does not undo processing that already happened lawfully.
- Ask us to stop sending you anything that is not about your enquiry.
- Complain to the Information Regulator if you think we have got this wrong.
Email intsales@sparesboyz.com to exercise any of these. We may ask you to confirm who you are first, so that we are not handing your enquiry to somebody else.
9. The Information Regulator
If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can take it up with the regulator directly. You do not need to come to us first.

10. Children
This site is meant for adults buying car parts. We do not knowingly collect information about children. If a child has sent us an enquiry, tell us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
If what we do with your information changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. The version you are reading was last updated on 30 August 2026.
The terms that apply to using the site and to enquiries are set out separately in our terms of use.
